Karelian forests are unique.
Spruce, for instance, which grows in the harsh conditions of northern Karelia, has its growth rings very close to each other. This makes spruce wood very strong and durable – and very expensive. Karelian pine is a very strong wood too and is easy to process. Karelian pine is considered a tree that gives humans energy, health and strength.
The fine-layered and dense structure of Karelian wood yields the high strength, elasticity and toughness of its timber products.
Moreover, the northern timber is less susceptible to fungi and pest damage. According to the Ministry of Nature Management and Ecology, the forests of the Central and especially the Central Black Earth Region of Russia are rather seriously damaged by the blue stain fungi, one of the most dangerous wood diseases. Those forests also suffer from the invasion of various insects that damage wood, which is largely exacerbated by a large number of artificial forest plantings. Worse still, the forests of central Russia grow on soils that are almost as depleted as those in Western Europe. The boreal forest, in contrast, has a natural origin and grows in environmentally clean places.
What are pellets?
Pellets, or wood pellet fuel, are a modern, easy-to-use and cost-effective type of biofuel. Wood
pellets are used for various ends – space heating in houses, commercial, industrial and communal

unusual until recently. Today, the pellets are gaining more popularity due to the rapid growth of
suburban construction and the ambition of many customers to implement energy-efficient and
eco-friendly technology. Besides, the ever-increasing prices on electricity and other energy
sources contribute to the attractiveness of wood pellet fuel.
What is the history of wood pellets?
Wood pellets were invented by Dr. Rudolf Gunnerman who moved from Germany to the United
States after the Second World War. In the USA, he was actively engaged in research of
bioenergy and energy efficiency and, along the way, created a fundamentally new type of solid
In 1976, Gunnerman presented his Bio Solaris project and launched the world first pellet
production from sawdust, shavings, wood chips, peat, and agricultural waste. Production of the
wood pellet fuel turned out to be economically profitable as it was based on cheap raw material,
and the ready-made product was easy to transport.
In the 21st century, pellets have become a popular source of energy for space heating all over the world. In Europe, pellet boilers are used in two-thirds of private houses. In the USA, more than 80 large manufacturers annually produce about 1 million tons of pellets, and China plans to produce up to 50 million tons of pellet fuel by 2020.

Отобранное сырье поступает в сушильный барабан, где проходит сушку на высоких температурах
Просушенное сырье поступает в дробилку, где измельчается до состояния "муки".
Далее измельченное сырье проходит процесс аспирации, где очищается от пыли.
Опилки прессуются через матрицу, тем самым обретая форму цилиндрических гранул.
Гранулы охлаждаются в колоне охлаждения, где вентилятор высокого давления забирает горячий воздух.
Готовые охлажденные гранулы фасуются в биг беги.
The dried raw material is crushed in the crusher until the flour-like state.
The selected raw material is dried at a high temperature in the dryer.
The crushed raw material undergoes the aspiration process, where it gets cleaned from dust.
1. Raw materials
We select top-quality coniferous species of Karelian timber, without any bark, rot, sand, or chemical impurities.
The sawdust is pressed to take the shape of cylindrical grains.
The pellets are cooled in a cooling chamber, where hot air is drawn out by a high-pressure fan.
Ready chilled pellets are packed in big bags.
